/r/FLStudio - The Reddit Home Of FL. Is there a way to copy a midi pattern (piano roll) and paste it to another channel in FL 10? In the piano roll you can. Copying Patterns and Notes in FL Studio’s Sequencer. Inside the sequencer, there’s a couple routes you can take to copy and paste notes from sound to sound, or pattern to pattern. We’ll start with the steps inside the Sequencer. The keyboard shortcut to open FL Studio’s step Sequencer is F6.

I'm collabing with someone who are using FL Studio 12 and I'm using FL Studio 11, and although I have FL Studio 12 installed none of my synths work and there are tons of other problems with it, so I rather want to use 11. They added a couple of patterns with certain melodies that I want to put back in 'my' version, but I can't find a way to copy from FL 12 to FL 11. Of course I can rewrite all the melodies again but it takes a lot of time.

Any input is appreciated :)

Fruity Loops Studio is a piece of software used for music production. It allows you to compose beats and record instruments as well as control notes using a MIDI input device. With MIDI melodies, the notes can be seen as if plotted on a graph--individual notes can be plotted and edited without the use of the input device. Copying and pasting small bits of melody can help speed up the composition process. Copy and paste can also be used in the arranger window.

MIDI Editor

Open Fruity Loops Studio and load up a file of composed music. To do this, click on 'File,' select 'Open' and browse for the intended file.

Click on the 'Pattern' that contains your MIDI input--the patterns are listed along the side of the arranger window.

Double-click on the thumbnail version of the melody to open it in piano roll--this will be shown next to an instrument on the step sequencer.

Click on the selector tool in the piano roll window-this is labeled with a small dotted square.

Click and drag a square around the notes you wish to copy--the selected notes will turn pink when highlighted.

Click on the downward-pointing arrow in the piano roll window, click on 'Edit' and select 'Copy.'

Scroll across to the point where you wish to paste the copied notes, click on the downward-pointing arrow, click on 'Edit' and select 'Paste.'

Move the notes around by clicking on the pencil tool in the piano roll window, then clicking and dragging the notes to where you want them.

Arranger Window

Click on the small dotted square logo at the top of the arranger window (selector tool.)

Click and drag around the area you wish to copy.

Click on the downward-facing arrow, click on 'Edit' and select 'Copy.'

Scroll along to the area you wish to paste in, click on the downward-facing arrow, click on 'Edit' and select 'Paste.'

Move the copied data around by selecting the pencil tool at the top of the arranger window, then clicking and dragging the data to its new location.
